Catherine Ford is a British actress born in Bloomsbury. After her father left the household, the actress was grew up by her mother grandparents, and godparents. As a child she was suffering from an obsessive compulsive disorder that caused anxiety due to word associations. Ford's love for acting grew in her early years. She was a part of at the National Youth Theatre. The school she was accepted to was Sylvia Young Theatre School. After a couple of days, she realized that this school wasn't right for her. Ford, instead of applying to Central School of Speech and Drama and getting a spot after her third try she applied for and was awarded an admission to the Central School of Speech and Drama. Shaun Dingwall would play Pete Tyler as a regular character for Doctor Who. Ford graduated in 1993. But, before then, Ford made a television debut, appearing as a character in Surgical Spirit in an episode that aired in 1990. Ford took the professional title of Catherine Tate. Tate was seen in television programs like The Bill, Men Behaving Badly, and London's Burning in the Nineties. The stage was her main focus, and joined The Royal Shakespeare Company's 2000-2001 season. Tate became famous for her stand-up comedy, that were added to her repertoire in 1996.
